Wire-Localised Breast Excision (Multiple Lesions): Surgery Guided by Imaging

SG Flyer.webp

Some breast lesions are not palpable and require wire localisation before excision. When multiple lesions are involved, surgical complexity rises sharply.

What It Costs

For wire-guided excision of multiple breast lesions, MOH benchmarks list:
• Surgeon fee: SGD 4,100 – 6,300
• Anaesthetist fee: SGD 1,100 – 1,400
Total costs can exceed SGD 7,000, excluding imaging and pathology.

What’s Typically Covered

This is usually treated as:
• Medically necessary surgery
• Eligible under hospital or day-surgery benefits
• Subject to deductible and co-insurance

Insurance Tip

Confirm whether pre-operative localisation imaging is reimbursed separately or bundled into surgery costs.

Conclusion

Image-guided excision bridges diagnosis and treatment. Insurance should bridge the cost gap too.
